Department of Health and Aged Care’s National Sign Language Program

The National Sign Language Program (NSLP) administered by the Department of Health and Aged Care provides sign language interpreting and captioning services to people 65 and over (50 years and over for First Nations people), who are not eligible for the NDIS, to interact with aged care services and providers and to participate in social inclusion activities.

From 1 July 2024, the NSLP will be expanded to include interpreting for medical appointments, additionally to the services currently being provided.
