DEAFBLIND AWARENESS WEEK 2024
Deafblind West Australians are inviting you to join us to celebrate Deafblind Awareness Week, 2024.
DBAW is celebrated internationally each year to coincide with Helen Keller’s birthday.
Please join us to celebrate, EVERYONE is welcome !
Event: Deafblind Awareness Week 2024
Where: The Rise Community Centre 28 Eighth Ave, Maylands
When: 19th June, 2024
Time: 1.00pm – 3.00pm Doors open 12.30pm
Program will include:
An Art Installation, designed and made by people who are deafblind for Deafblind International event to raise deafblind awareness hashtag #DbIYarnBombing2024
Launch of the Deafblind West Australians History Project with presentations by people who were/are pivotal to the development of peer support for people who are deafblind and their families in WA
Presentations on successful community connections.
Organisations who support inclusion and inclusive practices for deafblind
Afternoon Tea will be provided.
Auslan interpreters on site.
We welcome everyone: deafblind, vision impaired, Deaf, HOH, people with single/dual sensory loss, aged, family, friends, students, volunteers, service providers, educators, health care, government etc. Along with: individuals, groups and organisations from the broader community wanting to learn, understand and be inclusive of our unique community
