Deaf Australia Census
15 October 2022
Deaf Australia needs your help with the Deaf Census.

Complete the survey before the 15th of October!
The aim of the Deaf Census is to understand more about Deaf, Deafblind, hard of hearing and hearing people who use Auslan or other sign languages in Australia.

The Deaf Census was created to collect information that the 2021 ABS Census does not provide. It asks questions about language use and social contexts, about the EAF and NDIS, and about interpreter access at home, school, work and in medical contexts.
Will you please help them by informing your communities about the Deaf Census? Will you help us to encourage people to complete it? We would like to collect data from at least 1000 people to provide a solid evidence base for our advocacy.
The Deaf Census is an online survey in Auslan and English for all people living in Australia who use Auslan or other sign languages. It takes no more than 30 mins to complete. People can do the survey alone, or they can ask someone to help. If a Word doc or other format is preferred, we can provide that too. Data from the Deaf Census will help Deaf Australia advocate for all Deaf, Deafblind and hard of hearing people who use Auslan. For every person who completes the survey, Deaf Australia will donate $1 to Deaf Youth Australia.
This is the first ever chance we’ve had to understand the number and experiences of Deaf, Deafblind and hard of hearing people across Australia. This will help us to advocate strategically, and more importantly share data that the community can use for their own purposes.
